The 2015 Ram Laramie Limited was among the many American vehicles unveiled at this week’s Chicago Auto Show, but beyond its being a special edition trim for Ram’s pickups, what could be more important is the trim’s potential to improve monetization for Ram parent Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
Speaking at the Chicago Auto Show, Ram CEO Bob Hegbloom said that 40 percent of all trucks sold by the brand are priced at $60,000 or more. With the Laramie Limited trim, the average price of all Ram trucks sold has the potential to rise even further. This trim is all about luxury and Ram branding that some may call egregious – inside, owners get cozier leather seats, while the Ram brand name is emphasized on both the grille and the tailgate. The Limited comes with all sorts of creature comforts that would otherwise be optional on lower trims, giving it luxury amenities not found on many luxury cars, let alone trucks.
The 2015 Ram Laramie Limited trim will be available for the 1500, 2500, and 3500 models, and apart from the special grille and the branding, the Limited also includes redesigned headlights, 20-inch chrome wheels, and features that include a rearview camera, air suspension, navigation, heated seats and steering wheel, and much more. Pricing has not yet been confirmed, but FCA says the Ram Laramie Limited will be available by Q2 2015.
