The 2016 Ferrari FF, assuming it will be released as a 2016 model year vehicle, will be getting a bit of a refresh, and a report from Motor Trend claims that the recently-sighted car will come with a turbo engine.
Based on spy photos posted by the publication, the 2016 Ferrari FF may come with redesigned bumper air intakes and other minor styling wrinkles, though not much can be inferred in terms of design, as most of the front fascia was conveniently covered in protective camouflage. The new air intakes, however, could hint at an entry-level FF that comes with a turbocharged engine, probably a similar 3.9-liter V8 to the Ferrari California T and 488 GTB’s power plants. That should translate to a lot of power, as the former engine makes 553 horsepower and 557 lb/ft. torque, while the latter makes 660 horses and 561 lb/ft.
The outgoing Ferrari FF is powered by a 6.3-liter V12 engine, among other engine options, and if that engine carries over to the 2016 model, we could see more power and torque than the current engine’s 651 horses and 504 lb/ft. This could means something in the neighborhood of 700 horsepower, as a version of that V12 engine is capable of 731 horsepower and 508 lb/ft. on the F12 Berlinetta. Transmission options may include an eight-speed dual clutch, replacing the outgoing FF’s seven-speed dual clutch transmission.
