The Jaguar F-Type was a big success in 2014, selling 83 percent better on a year-over-year basis. In business jargon, the F-Type is Jaguar’s “halo” vehicle, and for the 2016 model year, the British automaker is adding even more standard features and equipment, all consistent with its business plan for the popular sports car.
“Since F-Type is so important, we built a business plan that adds more features and technology each model year,” said Stuart Schorr, Jaguar spokesman, in a statement. “It builds interest and excitement for the car as goes through its model cycle.” He hopes that the F-Type would remain a “momentum leader” with the 2016 model, and Jaguar is working on that by adding thousands of dollars’ worth of standard equipment for this iteration.
Depending on the trim, that would mean about $3,500 to $11,800 in additional standard equipment. These features include 14-way power seats, premium audio, a panoramic glass roof, and more. Aside from equipment, Jaguar also retooled the F-Type’s warranty, extending it to five years or 60,000 miles, whichever comes first. That’s an additional year and 10,000 more miles than what consumers got with the 2015 F-Type. In addition to that, the warranty also comes with complementary maintenance.
Despite the add-ons, the 2016 Jaguar F-Type won’t be that much more expensive than the 2015 model. The most affordable model, which comes with manual transmission, will cost $65,995 and up with destination charges. Next in line is the standard version with automatic transmission, which will set buyers back by $67,295. Standing out as the top-of-the-line model is the F-Type R convertible, which will be priced at $107,445.
