Although it’s not the worrisome safety issue that’s been a hallmark of many a car or truck recall in recent times, Cadillac is nonetheless recalling some 67,000 ATS sedans due to a problem with the car’s sunroof.
According to General Motors, affected Cadillac ATS sedans have sunroofs that can close with only a slight touch of the control, which, once again, isn’t something that would put most drivers at the risk of a crash, but still a nuisance for the average owner. Affected ATS sedans are from the 2013, 2014, and 2015 model years, and are primarily located in North America, meaning Canada and the United States. There have been no reports of any owner complaints, but reports say that GM discovered the issue in January when it was testing the 2016 ATS, and Cadillac has issued a stop sale on the ATS as it tries to sort out the problem.
General Motors will be replacing defective sunroof switch plates on affected cars, which would make the sunroof less sensitive to touch and require a harder touch for it to close or open. Repairs will be done free of charge, as is the case with most recalls.
