It may sound like more of the same, but today’s iPhone 6 release date rumors do not just include the United States, but other markets that may also be releasing the device sometime in the middle of September, particularly on a Friday.
It’s almost confirmed that Apple will be launching the iPhone 6 on September 9, which falls in perfectly with the company’s usual iPhone unveiling schedules. With this in mind, many are speculating an iPhone 6 release date on September 19, but that’s mostly pertained to U.S. customers. A new report from GforGames, however, cites a post from the Chinese microblogging service Weibo that suggests the iPhone 6 will arrive in Chinese stores between September 16 and 19. As Apple only releases new iPhones on a Friday, this report meshes with all those hinting at a September 19 arrival in stores, and suggests China will be among the countries included in Apple’s initial schedule for the iPhone 6 release date.
As a refresher, recent reports from Recode and The Wall Street Journal have been among the more prominent ones hinting at a September 9 launch date. As Apple usually releases new iPhones two Fridays after the reveal, these reports have, for a while, been pointing to an iPhone 6 release date on September 19.
Though all of the reports cited above point to an early September launch and a mid-September release for the iPhone 6, not all iPhone 6 release details have come into focus at this point in the game. Most interestingly, we haven’t heard anything regarding the possibility of early upgrades; this is key because several carriers, including AT&T, are now offering “Uncarrier”-esque off-contract plans that allow users to purchase a device for zero down and pay it off over several months, usually 24 months or two years. The rise of these programs have diminished the number of early upgrade options, so it will be interesting to see how carriers go about this when the iPhone 6 does hit stores.
