The 2015 Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah is just a few weeks away, and Jeep is paying tribute to its concept Wranglers by showing off some of the automaker’s most interesting SUVs that never made it to market.
The oldest concept that will be on display at the Easter Jeep Safari is the Jeep Staff Car (pictured), which dates back to the very beginning of the marque. It’s a minimalist Wrangler that doesn’t have any doors or B-pillars, but boasts of a military-style paint job and tires, and lifted suspension. The Jeep Chief, on the other hand, was a concept that was unveiled more than a couple decades later, with styling influence from the 1970s Cherokee. It comes with the same razor grille found on the ‘70s Wagoneer, slotted mag wheels, chrome bumpers, and an interior that makes it the perfect SUV for surfers back in the day, or maybe up to the present.
The Jeep Africa is a white-roofed concept that’s designed specifically for safaris, and its features include two auxiliary fuel tanks located behind the front fenders, Dana 44 axles, a winch, rock rails, and a two-inch lift kit, among others. As for the final concept, the Jeep Red Rock Responder is more of a truck than an SUV. In fact, it was conceptualized as a rescue vehicle, with its 37-inch tires, Dana 60 axles, beadlock wheels, and specialized pickup bed with cargo boxes and external doors.
