However, that might not be the case, according to a new report from well-respected tech site Droid-Life.
According to Droid-Life, Motorola might be going for a fair life cycle for the outgoing Moto X flagship, though said life cycle may last 13 months instead of the usual 11-12-month gap between device versions most consumers are used to. In other words, the Moto X+1’s release date may fall in late September, with the Verizon Moto X+1 due to drop on September 25.
This is contrary to Motorola’s promise this February that the Moto X+1 would be “coming this summer”, but since summer technically ends on September 22, it’s quite likely other carrier versions may hit stores around that time. It could also be a case of Motorola’s wording being taken the wrong way – “coming this summer” may pertain to a launch or a release (two different things, as a launch is when a product gets unveiled publicly for the first time), and it has been rumored that the Moto X+1 would be unveiled in August.
Aside from the Moto X+1 release date being speculated by Droid-Life for September, a separate report from Primate Labs came with GeekBench results for the Moto X+1, hinting at a quad-core Snapdragon 801 processor mated to 2 GB RAM. This backs up previous spec rumors, which had also hinted at a 5.2-inch, 1080p display, a 12-megapixel rear camera, and other upgraded basics under the Moto X+1’s hood. In terms of features, it’s not clear what buyers can expect, but the Moto X+1, as shown on leaks, may again be customizable with Motorola’s innovative Moto Maker service.
