If an anonymous Samsung employee is to be believed, the vaunted Samsung Galaxy Note 4’s release date may take place on September 15, or 12 days after the device formally arrives in Germany at Samsung’s “Unpacked 2” press event, and four days before the rumored iPhone 6 release date.
Framing the story a bit before getting to the new report, we’ll have to go back a few weeks, when whispers regarding a sooner-than-usual Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date started getting louder. Unofficial reports had suggested that Samsung may be trying to outdo Apple by releasing the Galaxy Note 4 before the iPhone 6 drops, and it wasn’t clear yet what exactly Samsung had in mind – like most tech companies, Samsung doesn’t announce release dates before a device is official. Earlier this week, invitations to the Unpacked 2 launch event started going out, and that more or less confirmed a Samsung Galaxy Note 4 launch on September 3.
Having provided that backdrop to the story, it would appear that things have been narrowed down, and that the Galaxy Note 4 may be in stores before the iPhone 6’s, whose release date is rumored for September 19. According to Android Authority, a Samsung employee provided the publication with a schedule of blacked-out Paid Time Off dates, or vacation leave dates. Aside from September 3 to 7, the dates September 15 to 28 are blacked out for PTOs, which means there’s a solid chance the Samsung Galaxy Note 4 release date may be on the 15th of next month.
This information, of course, is not official, and anything can change in the run-up to both Galaxy Note 4 and iPhone 6 release dates. But with Samsung already having sent invitations for Unpacked 2, and effectively having beaten Apple into unveiling its new high-end device, it looks like the Korean company has done it again, scheduling a Galaxy Note 4 release date a few days before the iPhone 6 is expected to start shipping out.
