As Samsung prepares to debut the Galaxy S6 at the 2015 Mobile World Congress, the Korean giant released a new tease to hype up the device, hinting at what could be one or more of the flagship phone’s special features.
Samsung’s Galaxy S5 didn’t get the most glowing of reviews, either from tech journalists or from everyday consumers who were expecting something momentous from the company. Instead, it got a lot of flak for not being a game-changing device, despite Samsung’s best efforts to improve its basic specification set. With the Galaxy S6, we’re expecting some big improvements in terms of specs, such as an eight-core Exynos processor, 3 GB RAM, and a 16- or 20-megapixel rear camera.
It’s that camera’s features that may be among the S6’s biggest selling points, as evidenced by the new tease’s tagline, “Find clarity in darkness.” Accompanying the image was a tweet from the @SamsungMobile account, which said “Great vision inspires me. I am #TheNextGalaxy.” Looking at the language Samsung used in its tease, this could mean improved photo quality in low light condition, a possible means for Samsung to catch up with Apple in that area.
Improving low light photo quality would be a much more salient reason to buy the Galaxy S6 than the rear shooter’s expected 16- or 20-megapixel rating, so we’d say Samsung is on the right track with this new tease. We should know for sure about the Galaxy S6 and its new camera features on March 1, as Samsung holds its Unpacked press event at Barcelona, Spain.
