It’s official – Motorola has been left behind by Samsung and LG, as both Korean companies announced yesterday their respective smartwatches. But all is not lost for Motorola, as the Moto 360 continues to be hyped ahead of its launch, and it’s also worth mentioning that the device already had an initial launch, quick as it was at June’s I/O expo. Now the onetime Google subsidiary has announced a new promotion that would give away a total of 20 Moto 360 smartwatches to the lucky winners.
The mechanics of the promotion are simple – entrants only have to download the Yo app, add Motorola as one of their contacts, and send the company a “Yo.” After you’ve completed these steps, Motorola will reply with a “Yo”, and a link to a form that needs to be completed and submitted. Motorola will then choose 20 winners, all of which would receive a free Moto 360.
If you’re interested in joining this promotion, you’ll have to act within the next few hours, as the promo started yesterday and ends today, August 28, at 3:01 p.m. CT. It is also limited exclusively to customers in the United States. And while it offers little consolation to those who wouldn’t be able to take part in the contest, Motorola does list one possible release detail for the Moto 360 – its “average retail value” of $249.
The Moto 360 will get a more comprehensive launch on September 4 in Chicago, where it should debut together with the new flagship Moto X+1 and the Moto G2.
