Two California-based enthusiasts had a few curious sightings this week, as they may have seen the Tesla Model X in action, testing at Alameda ahead of its release.
One of the men, Brandon Kiehne, posted the “spy photo” on Instagram, and it wasn’t long before Electrek and other publications caught wind of his interesting new discovery. “I saw this one being pulled into the trailer at (Naval Air Station Alameda) at an entrance to the closed airfield,” read the Instagram caption. “After (the trailer) was closed up I asked if I could be nosey hoping to find out what the car was but I got a quick ‘not on this one.’”
It wasn’t just Kiehne who believes that the vehicle being loaded into the trailer is the Model X. Another California resident, Juan del Real, posted his own video on YouTube, saying that he was at the nearby skatepark when he noticed the Model X “being driven on the adjacent runaway.” The vehicle in del Real’s video resembles a Toyota Prius, only much faster – it is being tested at high speeds while doing loops and braking. TechCrunch agreed with del Real’s assessment and agreed it does look like the Model X in terms of its size and design.
